Puffins of Skomer

Skomer Island off the coast of Pembrokeshire in Wales has a large growing population of Atlantic Puffins and is a fabulous place to see and photograph these wonderful birds. In June 2023 I was fortunate to be able to stay on Skomer for 3 nights as part of a photographic group arranged by Natures Lens. This is a small selection of the many photographs from the trip.



The island is also home to many other birds, including around three quarters of a million Manx Shearwater. Despite the large numbers, the Manx Shearwater are more heard than seen due their habit of returning after dark and heading back to sea before dawn.
